Debra's Furniture As Art Live Auction piece will be on display at No Place Like Home, 820 Main Ave., Durango, CO 81301
Clay, wood, paint, pencil, metal, and paper have all been media that I have worked with. I have continually shown my artwork since 1975, first on the East Coast and then branching out to California and points in between. My work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, restaurants, and office buildings. Since 1980, I have been teaching art to all ages and initiating public art works. Often I teach disabled or troubled children creative ways to express themselves without damage to others or objects. We then use these skills to make large art-murals and sculptures. Two examples of this collaborative process are the mural under the highway overpass at Santa Rita Park and the puma sculpture in front of the Robert E. DeNier Youth Services Center in Bodo Park. I feel rewarded and inspired to empower youth to continue the traditions of visual art. For a complete listing of exhibits, awards, and collectors, please contact the artist.
